My 2018 Resolutions

Every year I set some simple resolutions- trying not to overdo it and be as realistic as impossible. This year’s resolutions are primarily focused on my health and happiness and less on ‘things’ and ‘wants’. When I was younger I would always strive for success and more specifically academic success. Always studying, trying my best to gain another year’s scholarship and get as many degrees as possible to become an expert in my field. 2017 marked the year of the end of my studies and after 13 years spent studying, I can wholeheartedly say that I couldn’t have been any happier! So with studies out of the way, it’s time to focus on another level of personal growth and balance social life, with fitness, work and travelling!

 

 

Here are this year’s resolutions:

 

 

 

Take up the Kayla Itsines challenge once again! -> I did the 12 week challenge two years ago and since then my body has changed forever. I have always been slim but Kayla’s workouts just pushed me to my limits and really made a difference to my body and core strength. Add to that a 5 miles cycle to commute to work every day and you got the picture. I was fit in a healthy rater than extreme way! For 2018 I want to be strong and healthy again, so bring it on!

 

 

Experiment with various diets -> At the end of 2017 I tried becoming a vegan for a week that eventually turned out to be 10 days and boy was it tough! After consuming tonnes of sugar during my PhD writing up stage I figured it would only do me good to be a bit more careful with my diet and go vegan and clean eating. Veganism is tough I keep saying this all the time, especially if you do not experiment much in the kitchen, and possibly this was my biggest mistake during this challenge, so I am not sure I can do it again. However, in 2018 I am hoping to experiment a bit more with other diets (see, gluten free, sugar free etc.) and see what works best for my body!

 

 

Read more! ->Ooh, the irony of it. When I was studying for my PhD I would be DREAMING of the time that I’d have absolutely nothing to read yet here I am today wondering what to do with my spare time and how to keep up with my brain’s pace. I decided reading would do me some good thinking of it as a form of exercise. I mean, if you were working out everyday and all of the sudden you’d go numb wouldn’t it hurt your body? Because this is exactly how my brain feels after years of intense studying. A bit of Jane Austen never hurt anyone, right? Here’s a to year of Sense and Sensibility, realistically and metaphorically!

 

 

Travel more! ->I love travelling and even though I tried to do my best whilst doing a laboratory based PhD things didn’t always end up the way I wanted. This year I am hoping to go somewhere far away, let that be Australia, USA, Africa it doesn’t really matter. Anywhere far away to get me outside my safe limits and teach me wonderful life lessons please!

 

 

Blog more ->Back in 2007 I used to blog almost every single day! I blame it to the lack of social media, with so many platforms to keep up today I cannot afford to have my sole focus on Natbee’s which is a shame. So I am hoping to blog at least 4-5 times per week this year and see how it goes. Seeing as Natbee’s brings the bread on my table I should probably take it a bit more serious and grow my business as much as it is possible. So this year I am going to try harder and deliver more creative content and be better at photography! Thank you so much for reading Natbee’s all these years it really means a lot to me!
