I love everything about autumn; the colour change of the leaves, apple pies, Barbour jackets, hot chocolates and puppy cuddles – it’s simply the most colourful and heart warming time of the year! Preparing us for what it is to come, wonderful Christmas, and the not-so-wonderful cold months ahead of us, I believe autumn is nature’s gift to humans. For as long as the days are still bright I try to go out of the house daily let that be for a dog walk with Cruz or a hike up in Bennachie, or even better, a picnic with a friend! This time, I went for an autumn picnic photoshooting with Jules and Kendall! The idea to have an outdoors picnic with Jules came around almost a month ago and Kendall who is an Aberdeen photographer at Simply Green Photography, very kindly offered to take a few shots of us, so we all three ended up having a girly, fun morning at Hazlehead Park with tea, donuts and a flying Jack Russell, that is Cruz. Saturday morning we went to the park with our picnic baskets and rugs. Jules brought some muffins that she baked the previous night and a few pumpkins for decoration, and I brought some donuts, my favourite enamel mugs and Cruz, because is there anywhere I go without him?
I cannot emphasise how important it is when hiring a photographer to feel at ease. There’s nothing I hate more than staged photoshootings and Kendall most certainly has mastered the art of making you feel comfortable in her presence to the point that we didn’t even feel she was there!
Jules and I talked about our Blogs, future travels and Christmas plans (is it too early to bring the C word up?). We’d occasionally stop chatting to take a bite of the donuts, sip Earl Grey tea and play with Cruz who found this autumn picnic photoshooting rather amusing as he didn’t stop charging about and down and all around us. As it was a crispy, chilly morning, both Jules and I, wore our thick jumpers and countryside boots. This was the first time I was wearing these EMU Australia Dongara boots and I must say that they are one of the comfiest pair of boots I own! They are lined with fur, which makes them soft to step in and warm and they remind me of a pair of boots I had when I was a teenager, so I have this nostalgic feeling everytime I wear them! We ended up chatting and laughing whilst Kendall was doing her brilliant job. She took more than 60 images that I am going to share in my future posts – I have a special post coming up for you guys featuring Jules, talking a bit more about our friendship and blogging, so I am extremely happy to have this stock photography that Kendall very kindly offered us! For someone like me who is trying to do the photography all by herself with her tripod and remote control, having a local photographer like Kendall is a blessing from the skies. Now, tell me have you ever had a professional photoshooting? How did it feel?
