Cozying up with Bronte by Moon

Cozying up with Bronte by Moon

^ stop making me pose!

Move over E.S.P.D (electric Shiatsu portable device), I have found a better way to relax my shoulders and catch some z’s and it doesn’t even need charging! It’s no secret that I have been suffering with insomnia for as long as I was working as a researcher at the University – a fact that is well documented all over my Twitter – and I have spent countless nights walking around the house from one room to another trying to find some peace in the dark hours of the night. If there is one person that knows this better than anyone else, then this must be my puppy Cruz, who has experienced this insomnia first hand when I’d cuddle him in my effort to sleep on the sofa.

So far, I have tried everything from drinking fennel tea to reading a book, using anti-allergy bedding covers, lighting up The White Company lavender candle I got as a gift for Christmas to listening to the sound of waves and birds singing. When Bronte by Moon got in touch with me with the promise that they’d sent me the softest cushions ever, I was at best excited at worst curious (do Bronte by Moon people really do the BEST cushions?). What sort of magic could their cushions do for my insomnia that my previous sofa accessories have failed to achieve?

My fears were groundless: after a week of cozying up in the sofa with Cruzy by my side, in the company of three of the finest Bronte by Moon, 100% Merino Lambswool, feather filled cushions, I had the most pleasurable evenings reading books and drinking tea, preparing myself for my night sleep. The blame for my long-term insomnia was shifted as quickly as my other sofa cushions were donated to the local charity shops. And as one of my friends said, having a fixed pre-bed routine is all I needed to get a good night’s sleep, not an E.S.P.D! Reading a book while laying on the sofa with the soft, cozy cushions (instead of being on my phone checking work e-mails) put my body in a slow mode and prepared me for a relaxing sleep.

Currently, the Bronte by Moon Spot Cushion goes around the house with me, from the living room sofa to the bedroom window seats and back to my desk area. It is as soft as a marshmallow and makes any sitting surface feel MUCH softer! I am a strong advocate of the saying ‘you get what you pay for‘ and knowing that Bronte by Moon, craft their range of cushions and throws from the historic Moon mill in Guiseley, Yorkshire (established in 1837!) – one of Great Britain’s last remaining vertical woollen mills*, explains why these cushions have fast become my favourite ones!

*I have never heard of the term ‘vertical woollen mill’ before, so I thought for justification purposes I should explain what it is here, in case like myself, you are clueless. Vertical woollen mills were around in the Victorian Era, and they were called as such because they would have multiple floors in which, every stage of production (from raw wool to finished product including Dyeing, Blending, Carding, Spinning, Warping, Weaving, and Finishing) were being done.

So, here is to having more relaxing evenings, more dog cuddles and more beautifully crafted, soft cushions that make a house, a cozy home!
