Happy Friday friends and welcome to another instalment of The Friday Edit blog Series!
With only 3 days left till I board on a plane to Greece, I try to be as resourceful with my time as ever – I have finished with my Ph.D. thesis corrections and I will possibly submit it to the University later today, I have bought all the gifts I wanted for my family and friends and I have managed to pack all of my clothes in my wee travel bag. Success!
This week has been quite busy not only for the tasks mentioned above but mostly because I had loads of mini blog projects to do at so little time, that totally made me feel like a busy fool or as we say in Greece as if I carried ‘loads of watermelon under my armpit‘. But the thought of soon being under the Greek blue sky and sunshine keeps me going and even though my energy levels were low, my determination to have things done was stronger.
Here’s what sums up this week:
ONE // The Dr. Martens launch event in Aberdeen. which if you follow me on Instagram I am sure you have heard me talking about on my Stories. There was live music, endless beer and classic shoes, and to top it off I was there with Jules and Cruzy and boy, did he steal everyone’s attention once again? You should have seen his cute, little face of happiness when people where approaching to play with him.
TWO // Speaking of Dr. Martens shoes, does anyone have any advice on sizing please? I got this pair at size UK 6 while I am a size 7, and now I am wondering whether I should have sized down that much or not. How long does it take for them to break in? Do I keep them or return them back? Hashtag worried.
THREE // I am neither Agyness Deyn, nor do I live in Brooklyn with the cool kids so as you understand it took me some time to figure out how to style the said Dr. Martens boots. Bohemian dresses, Levi’s 501 classic jeans and pinafore dresses apparently are on my side!
FOUR // A spontaneous trip to Italy. Now that the Ph.D. is accomplished all I am dreaming about is traveling. Coincidentally, my friend Maria, who also got a Ph.D. very recently was thinking about the same, so we booked ourselves a trip to Italy flying in Rome and back from Naples. We have already booked our tickets and hotels but haven’t planned our itinerary, so if you have any suggestions at all they are very welcome 🙂
FIVE // While everyone’s complaints about the Instagram numbers falling captured my attention over the past days, I try to focus on the positive aspects of this brilliant community and stop worrying too much about the ‘likes’ and ‘comments’ but rather the quality of content and interaction with people. Even though my pictures do not reach the 300 likes they used to, my impressions are still very high and the number of people watching my Instagram Stories and interacting with me sometimes blows my mind, so there’s that! I am not Gigi Hadid and my wardrobe is nowhere close as awesome as Kelly’s Eastwood, but I do my best to keep working with tourism board agencies and promote Scotland to everyone and anyone. So if you have stayed around for so long, all I want to say is thank YOU!
And that’s all for this week. Dr. Martens in Aberdeen, Dr. Martens style, a trip to Italy and Instagram reality realisation.
