This has been the first weekend that life felt a bit better and that things are (almost) back to normal again! Lockdown restrictions were relaxed after 2 months of isolations, there was a glorious intense sunshine for three days in a row and I met friends that I hadn’t seen in ages. All in all, this was one of the best weekends I had in a while!
Here’s how it went down:
On Friday, I met with my friend Heather and her gorgeous rescue pup Spot (@littlespotthedog) at Rubislaw & Queen’s Terrace Gardens. We grabbed a takeaway coffee from Parx Cafe and sat under the shadowy trees, chatting away and catching up on our isolation news. It was lovely to meet a friend and finally be outside for as long as I wanted to without feeling guilt!
Cruz and Spot met during the Olympus Aberdeen Instagram Tour I did last year. Both are terriers but so different in nature. Spot is kind-hearted, calm and easily trainable. Cruz on the other hand is a wee rascal thinking he can rule the entire world, on on this ocassion the park!
Later on, the same day, we met with Bear, another friend of Cruz. Bear is a Newfoundland x Labrador who has the personality of a tiny chihuahua puppy. Whereas Cruz, well we all know Cruz by now, don’t we? Dogs and their personalities, hey?
On Saturday, we went for a walk through the fields until we ended up down the hill by the river. The dogs kept themselves busy by having a much welcomed dip in the waters, chasing birds, and grabbing biscuits that I’d throw and they’d float on the water.
It was another sunny day and the heat was so intense I nearly got my shoes off and dive in the waters, nearly!
Then we met the talented Stephen Lister, an Edinburgh based photographer who started the #onyourdoorstepAberdeen project. A clever idea where Stephen takes professional pictures of you and your family in front of your doorstep for only £30 – a BARGAIN for professional photography!
Cruzy and I had a blast and I absolutely LOVE the result of our photo shooting session. If you are in Aberdeen and want to do something fun, please drop Stephen a line. I promise you, you’re going to love it!
This morning, I went to my friend’s Hollie’s garden (I told you this was a weekend filled with socialising, didn’t I?). We sat at her beautiful garden, while keeping a safe distance apart and started talking about everything and anything. Seeing as we hadn’t seen each other for more than 2 months it felt weird not to hug or even sit close to each other, but if sitting on each side of the table is the only way we can meet each other, so be it!
After Hollie’s, we went to Johnston Gardens. Cruzy was being his usual character, jumping along the way sniffing leaves and flowers. Until he found a stick and he demanded I threw it in the water for him to catch and then it all started, the barking and yaffling and waffling and I am pretty sure at some point the entire Johnston Gardens heard us! It was all worth it though as his little face lit every time I would play with him and it brought so much joy to see him being happy. Much like me, he missed his walks and socializing too.
Back at home, I setup a balcony station by the bay window. I pulled the IKEA chairs, got my favourite vegan burger from Brewdog and enjoyed it while the sunshine caressed my feet.
This weekend has been a blast, more of this, please!
Now tell me, how was your weekend?
