The Friday Edit

Happy Friday friends and welcome to the first Friday Edit of 2019! In my 11 years of blogging, this has to be the longest that I’ve been away (almost 2 weeks have passed since my last post!!!) and I have all sorts of emotions for neglecting my little corner of the internet for so long. This was a bustling week but even though time went by quickly I was happy and satisfied with everything that came along the way. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to make time matter by living in the moment and trying to do more things within each week. Even though this is easier said than done the more we get stuck into our habits and routines, this week I *think* I might have made it happen!

Without further ado, here is what made this week a satisfying one:

ONE// Reading more and posting less on Instagram. I have a love-hate relationship with Instagram; there are days that I am willing to wander in the streets of Aberdeen with the sole purpose of capturing city views and people vigorously walking by to get that perfect Instagram shot, and then there are days where I lack inspiration (a.k.a the Instagrammers block) and nothing seems good enough to go on the grid. Add to all this that the performance of Instagram posts is pretty much unpredictable these days and you can see why I have these feelings about this app. These days, instead of focusing my time curating a good looking feed, I started reading books and it has become a habit by now to read a few pages every night before going to bed. This change in my routine, makes me fall asleep easier and has lessen my night thoughts, so overall I feel better for staying off the grid and focusing on some ‘me’ pre-bed time!

TWO// Spending my lunch break in Aberdeen beach with Cruz. There’s nothing I enjoy more than walking down the beach with Cruz. He LOVES playing around with other dogs, chasing driftwood (that he somehow feels he saves from the waves) and licking red pebbles! We had some fun time together on Wednesday, albeit it was too cold for my liking, running around and greeting other dogs and their humans. So happy I had my thermos with me – hot Earl Grey tea, doggies playing and the smell of the sea – I can’t think of a better lunch break 🙂

THREE// An flying day trip to Edinburgh to capture a few of my favourite places for a campaign I am working at the moment. I focused on New Town as I feel tourists often are not aware of the gems you can discover whilst in this area. Stockbridge, Dean Village and the beautiful Circus Lane are just a few of the places I ticked off my list. I managed to do everything before 4.30pm as the sun was already setting and I didn’t want to take any pictures while it was dark. I am going to share my Travel Guide with you next week so keep an eye if you are thinking of visiting Edinburgh anytime soon.

I do not have any grand plans for the weekend, I am just going to paint the last living room wall (it has taken ages to finish this room, I know!), repot my plants and also shoot a recipe for a food project I am working for Burn’s Night! And that’s all from me for now.

Yes to reading more! Reflecting on my 2018 Goodreads reading challenge as motivated me to continue with my reading habits, and with the weather so cold outside, I always look forward to curling up inside with a good book 🙂 // This weekend I’m catching up with some friends over brunch! It’ll be nice to see them back from the holidays 🙂

Reading more, absolutely! I’d definitely start to read one book very soon when my term paper is done. This weekend I’ll try out shooting analog with my new camera, perfect thing is that it’ll be sunny outside! x
    Have a lovely weekend!
