While settling into a new city and with the flat being in a state of mess, we figured it’s best if we escape at the countryside for a few days.
I have dreamed of living in a countryside house, complete with its own vegetable patch and fruit trees, for a long time now.
When I was living in Scotland, I was extremely jealous of my sister’s updates sending me images of the vegetable patch produce.
Fresh out of the garden with the morning haze droplets still on, she’d send me tons of images of fruit, eggs and vegetables that would make anyone salivate.
But especially a vegetarian like me!
The days of buying overpriced cherry tomatoes from Tesco are well and truly over.
Now, all I have to do is step outside the cottage, past the chicken coop and the apple orchard and there it is waiting for me to worship it, the vegetable patch!
Thankful for my parents driving all the way up here to help with the renovations and cleaning of the city flat, I managed to get some time this morning to harvest some goodies from the vegetable patch; pears, tomatoes, cucumbers and eggs were just a few of the goodies that ended up in my basket.
All organically produced under the Greek sunshine, ready to be devoured and hopefully last us until the end of the week, even though that may be harder than it sounds judging by the amount of pears I’ve already eaten.
There are plenty of friends to be made here, too, which makes every visit a win-win situation!
Meet Psipsinel the grey beauty, Marjorie the chicken 🐔, Jo the tiny kitten 🐈 and Mario the rooster 🐓 who, between you and me, needs a bit of resetting to get his timetable right and stop waking us up at 3am 🤣.
We are all friends here and so we have the occasional chat about life and everything in between accompanied by coffee and freshly baked cake using Marjorie’s eggs, but don’t tell her I do so!
I know I’ve been a bit distant from the online world lately but with so much happening right now and so many new friends to take care of (including Jo and Mario), can you blame me?
I promise to be back soon once the flat is ready and life goes back to normality. Hopefully soon x
