Little Things That Make Me Happy #14

Little Things That Make Me Happy #14

Another installment of the little things that make me happy series….

As I am writing this I watch Martin Clunis: Islands of Australia and once again my desire to fly to the other side of the planet hit me. I cannot quite explain my reasons for feeling that Australia will be a great place to visit and/or live. It might be that the idea of going to a place that it’s sunny, with blue beaches and palm trees appeals to me (for obvious reasons) or that by listening to Tame Impala all these years I have shaped a positive image in my head that nothing and no one can get away. In either way, I have to visit and finally see it with my own eyes one day!

We’ve had such a great welcome to 2017 these past days. Steven and I have scheduled a bit of travelling after the end of my experiments and I am so looking forward to it! I plan on getting better on booking tickets in advance rather than the last minute, and also on making the most out of these last few months of my Ph.D (so excited!).

Onto the little things that made me happy this past week (despite the fever and cough)…

-Your reaction for the new Natbee’s design! All your emails, Instagram comments, positive words and support moved me so much. I really don’t know how many times I should thank you all for reading Natbee’s all these years!

-Steven driving me to the countryside, then arranging a little surprise dinner for me. It felt so calm and peaceful being back in the countryside. Seeing Cruzy’s happy face while running free around the woods just made me burst into happiness.

-Sleeping by the fireplace on Saturday night. Steven prepared a mini indoors picnic situation and then he made a bed by the fireplace where we slept all together-Cruz included. He was soooo happy, he seriously lives for the days he is allowed to sleep with us in bed.

-Editing the pictures I took in Edinburgh while Cassandra visited. Even though at the end we got tired because we did so much within a short space of time, we really loved our mini adventure! Hogmanay in Edinburgh is such a thing, isn’t it?

-I know people say that numbers are not everything, but it really made me happy this past week that two of my favourite Instagram accounts reposted two of my pictures. In a way, it feels like you are being rewarded for all the hard work you put in your photography.

-Being totally smitten with an Oliver Bonas dress that Steven’s mum bought for me. It has a lovely pattern and I cannot wait for the weather to get a bit warmer so that I can wear it with a pair of ankle boots and a thin blazer on top.

-Being invited to two press trips, which seeing as I am quite busy at the moment I will try to postpone for a bit later on time.

-Getting some ‘me’ time while I get back home from work and I wait for Steven to finish and come back too. It takes him around 45′ of commute to reach home so I make the most of this time, reading a few pages of my favourite book, drinking a cup of tea and eating a little treat like a buttery sultana scone.

-Finding a new addiction to watch at nights with Steven, the White Collar series. I know they might be old news for some of you,but after finishing the Suits we were eager into watching something similar and then Netflix (as per usual) gave us the answer.

And I will leave you with a quote that I live by lately::

“For most of life, nothing wonderful happens. If you don’t enjoy getting up and working and finishing your work and sitting down to a meal with family or friends, then chances are that you’re not going to be very happy. If someone bases his happiness or unhappiness on major events like a great new job, huge amounts of money, a flawlessly happy marriage or a trip to Paris, that person isn’t going to be happy much of the time. If, on the other hand, happiness depends on a good breakfast, flowers in the yard, a drink or a nap, then we are more likely to live with quite a bit of happiness. ”
