Meet the new Natbee’s team!

Over the years of blogging, I’ve dreamed of having my own team of Aberdeen bloggers (and not only). Blogging can be tough and very demanding at times, and with life and job in the way of it I realised that it would be nice to get some help. So in 2016, I got on board Joanne, Maria, Sophia and Bethany. They were contributing brilliant articles to Natbee’s and got this blog going while I had my main focus on my Ph.D. studies, and for this I will forever be grateful to these ladies. Fast forward to 2018, Natbee’s has grown more than I could have ever imagined! The engagement we receive from our readers via emails, Instagram messages and comments here under our posts is mind blowing and the denominator is always the same, there is a need for more variable content something that with our current capacity and numbers would never be able to produce. Once again, I got this familiar feeling of being overwhelmed with work and feeling inadequate to please everyone and keep up with anything else needed done. So, I did what I knew and I reached for contributors via my Instagram and this time I had the highest interest ever!!! While reading each application of interest I felt even more passionate to keep it up with my blog and honoured to have all this wonderful people wanting to work with me. All of them come from different backgrounds and have something unique to contribute to Natbee’s, and I am very much excited every time I receive a new article from them, making me feel that my decision to take each and all of them on-board was the wisest thing.

Without further ado, please meet the new Natbee’s team (in no particular order):

Joanne from The Edinburgh Life, Edinburgh Blogger

JO, is my trusted social media manager and the person behind the very successful Let’s Chat Series that has the highest engagement in the comments section (albeit sometimes with harsh critic, but Jo is always happy to address them all!). Jo is like my right hand; she is always searching for seasonal trends and informs me about any blogging/social media news that we have to discuss over at Natbee’s. She is in charge of the Natbee’s e-mail when I am away and she takes over Natbee’s social media when I am overwhelmingly busy.

What to know more about Jo? Here is her Edinburgh filled Instagram account!

Natbee's Aberdeen male blogger

ADAM, is our youngest and first male contributor. He was born in Scotland but lived a significant amount of his life in the USA and even travelled to 49 of the 50 States!!! He currently lives in England and he blogs over Adam Briggsy about life in England and his travel tips. He will be part of the travel category here at Natbee’s and he will start posting from October and onwards so stay tuned for his wonderful articles!

What to know more about Adam? Here is his travel filled Instagram account!

FIONA, is a lovely Scottish lady who after living in North Berwick for a few years relocated back in Aberdeenshire with her husband and gorgeous daughter Penelope!  I am super excited to have Fiona on-board as she will be our Mummy blogger, talking about all things babies and answering all your questions about any challenges life throws you! We never had any contributors in the past posting about baby and toddler life so this is something new and very intiguing for me and hopefully for you as well. Keep an eye for Fiona’s future post, I am sure you will love them 🙂

What to know more about Fiona? Here is her family filled Instagram account!

 Book blogger Scotland

FREYA, was introduced to me by our common insta-friend Rosie from The Geographer the day I had filled Natbee’s contributors numbers and I had decided to take no more. However, when Rosie told me about Freya’s impressive studies – she studied English Literature at Cambridge University, and with Rosie having an exceptional taste for all great things in life, how could I possibly reject her (and Rosie’s judgement?!). Soon after, I found myself chatting to Freya and when she send me her first draft article I was astonished by her writing voice and talent! Freya will be writing about her travels in England (and not only), life in London and her favourite books and she has already managed to post an article last week about her Autumn Bookish Adventures!

What to know more about Freya? Here is her English adventures filled Instagram account!

Natbees Aberdeen blogger

SIA, is one of the youngest contributors, she is a Philosophy, Education and Psychology student and she is also Greek! As a matter of fact, Sia and I not only share the same ethnicity, but we also have the same name – Sia is short for Anastasia– and we both grew up in the same town in northern Greece! Sia will be writing about her favourite things and she will be in charge of the Wishlist Series where she will be sharing once per month her favourite finds.

What to know more about Sia? Here is her fashion and outfits filled Instagram account!

Having contributors is challenging but very exciting! At first I was worried that Natbee’s brand and voice will change but with me taking over the Editor’s position and stepping back on the blogging side of things I can now happily say that things look very Natbee’s (yes, I juts made a new word for it)! If you are a long-time reader of Natbee’s and you are not my Mum or Sister, then thank you for being here all these years, supporting me in doing what I love doing the most. Natbee’s will keep being about life in Scotland, countryside adventures, lifestyle advice and preppy outfits but I hope you will love the new content and appreciate the new people that Natbee’s has on-board. Here’s to the feature (And I raise my cup of tea to you all as I type this!).

Why everything you say has to be from a privileged soapbox? You contribute to women feeling bad about their lives when you post your staged photos of your perfectly curated, perfect life on Instagram and then you complain about working too hard and needing to get contributors on board? Sorry I don’t feel sorry for you when all you do is sip coffee and walk the dog as seen on your instagram stories! There seems to be very little flow to your blog, why not post from a little less picture perfect aspect? Just saying…

    Tone deaf!

      Hi,

I was annoyed and astonished at the same time to read your attack comment this morning. I am sorry but for how long have you been following me? Have you ever met me in person or are your opinions based on what you might have heard from someone or an Instagram picture I posted and you might have misinterpreted? Let me tell you a few things about me please and then please think twice before you call me like you did…
I have been working since a very young age and at the same time I was studying and giving additional exams to get scholarships that would allow me to study for my MSc degrees in the UK. No help from anyone, no privileges here. I wasn’t lucky, I just knew what I wanted and I worked for it. After finishing my two MSc degrees I got another scholarship for my PhD degree. Scholarships don’t just come along your way, you sit exams and sometimes even take IQ tests and you are being interviewed on top of everything else. While doing all these things for the past 13 years I also started Natbee’s just before I finished my Bsc Hons degree. It wasn’t for the fame or the freebies, it was my creative outlet and place where I would share my stories for my Mum and friends to read so they’d keep up with me. Blogging back in time was pure, innocent and much more fun! Despite the workload and student commitments, I kept maintaining this site and never asked for help or complained to anyone until maybe 2 years ago, when I started writing up my PhD thesis and needed help to manage Natbee’s, from posting and engaging with our readers to answering e-mails. If you are a blogger then I am sure you understand what I mean, if you are not then please allow me to tell you that blogging is not just posting images of yourself on the Internet, it has a strong entrepreneurial side into it which I don’t have the time to explain now but there are loads of articles online if you fancy reading.
I have never faked it, I have never bought my followers, I have never photoshopped myself and I am always as truthful and down to Earth as it gets. So really, where all this hate and negative opinions come from? Where did you see me living a perfect life and how do I make others feel bad about themselves. I’d be very interested to know if you’d like to come back and address these points please.
      Thank you!

If you feel bad about your life that’s both your own fault and your own problem. Why should she pretend she’s miserable to make you feel ok with yourself?!

Go and watch Jeremy Kyle if you need something to positively compare yourself to, and leave the girl alone.

Thank you so much for your support!

I didn’t really thought much about these comments until yesterday-I had a chat with a friend and we both couldn’t understand where all this hate comes from once I announced that Natbee’s has now a bigger team of contributors and Aberdeen bloggers! It’s a shame they think I portray a ‘perfect life’ (who even has a perfect life!), but if they truly feel so bad about themselves reading my blog, I don’t understand why they don’t stop reading Natbee’s and they instead choose to leave these nasty comments…

I tried to comment twice today but haven’t seen my comments appear yet, have you been always moderating your comments?! I have no doubt this wont be posted either but I just have to say that it is a disservice as a blogger to portray a carefree life then come out asking for contributors. You are trotting out help and get contributors for headpats and bravos to show that you are busy (?!!) and successful (?) but really all you do is making yourself look like a busy fool!

    • Anastasia
      September 12, 2018

      Hi Amalia,

Yes you are right, I moderate my comments since last night because I could not take any more negative comments since I posted about the Natbee’s team! Here I am though allowing you comment to be published for the sake of democracy.

Like the commenter above-weirdly enough you two seem like you know each other as you have similar opinions-I cannot believe that I am being accused of portraying a carefree life (where, when?) and that I called for help to ‘show’ that I am busy!!! I wish I could privately send you a screenshot of Natbee’s e-mail so that you get a glimpse into how many e-mails we receive per day, from readers asking things about Aberdeen to serious and not-so-serious collaborations from brands. All these e-mails, regarding of their nature need to be addressed because this is how I have been doing things all these years and I do not wish to stop engaging with people asking me about stuff now, just because I am busier than before. I am not trotting out help (btw I had to Google the meaning of this, thanks for making me learn a new word today) for the bravos but rather for my own sake and if you believe the opposite then I am not interested in changing your opinion anymore.

I am sorry you were so annoyed last night to comment 3 times, but if the content I post or even my online presence annoys you then PLEASE feel free to stop reading because I cannot handle the unbased negative criticism either.
      Thank you!

Glad to see you let my comment go through. Based on your today’s Insta stories you went for an afternoon tea and then walked the dog but you had a contributor posting on the blog. How difficult is it to have your leisure time and then return home and post on your blog? This is the one and only job you have but you are so lazy you are trying to find ways to avoid it! I think you are spoiled and you try to find ways to convince yourself that you need all this help. Whatever. This just feels contrived! Good luck because you most certainly will need it…

Amazing how you find time to leave all these comments on Anastasia’s blog during the day when you are supposedly working so hard. Please leave your blog / facebook profile so we can all see how busy you are. And yes, of course blogging is contrived, it’s not a bloody documentary. Every blogger chooses to cut out the bad bits and blog about nice things, it’s escapism, ie escaping from the monotony of ones daily chores. You’re clearly a jealous loser who probably tried blogging but couldn’t get anywhere with it, and now you spend your time negatively judging others who have achieved something. And she did it while gaining a PhD. What have you done? Again, let’s see who you are so we can compare you and her.

Spot on Pie in the Sky!

It’s amazing how they find the time to comment negatively (3 comments in one day under the same post), but still call me lazy. It’s also very convenient that they say all these things whilst hidden behind a screen. They must feel really bad about their lives and themselves to be so persistent and comment consistently under my posts leaving the nastiest comments I have ever read.

Thank you for your support once again!

Amalia, FIY today I spent the entire morning answering e-mails, finalising campaigns, attending a meeting and in between all that I edited a vlog, uploaded the said vlog on Youtube and also posted on the blog.

I still though posted my coffee and puppy, Cruz, in my Instagram Stories. Does this make me lazy?

Hi Michelle and thank you for your support once again. I am sincerely confused.
I don’t know what they want but I suppose not seeing me discussing my struggles online makes them feel bad about their struggles and so, later on, they leave nasty comments here telling me off for things they should’ be telling me off…
      It’s confusing to me too!
