(…not drinking coffee)
If there is one thing I enjoy more than forest walks with Cruz that is cycling with Emma (my pendleton bike) around the streets of Aberdeen.
I started cycling almost two years ago when I moved in a place 5 miles away my office. I was meaning to take the bus every day to go to work but soonish I realised that it wasn’t much fun and so the idea of getting a bike hit me. My first bike was an old Peugeot that I found on Gumtree for pennies and then later on at Christmas, Santa Claus generously gifted me a Carrera Crossfire that felt like going from Lada Niva to Range Rover! I was happily cycling the 5 miles every day but I was still secretly keeping my eyes peeled for any Halford’s offers, seeing as my dream bike was a Dutch style bike and not a mountain bike. And it happened! So Emma came into my life and I couldn’t be any happier since then. The times people have stopped me in the streets to ask me where I got her from or just to spare a compliment, it’s unbelievable how eye-catching a pretty bike is!
If you follow me on Instagram then you know that for me cycling is not only a way of getting to my workspace but also a way of seeing the city, working out and escaping during my lunch breaks. The more I cycle the more I am passionate about it and fall into the take-care-of-yourself train, starting with healthier lunch options…
To me Carluccio’s is one of the best places to go and have food when you are in the city centre. I am a loyal client since forever and I’ve never been dissapointed. The interior instantly transfers you to Italy and the food is simply delicious. On Monday Helena and I popped in for a quick brunch at Union Square after yoga classes. We both got the eggs- royale and benedict- along with smoothies and we LOVED it! We also convinced ourselves that it would only be appropriate to start the week with something sweet and so we gave in and ordered the gluten free orange cake for me and coconut/walnut cake for Helena. If you ever visit Carluccio’s make sure to try the coconut cake it was so aromatic and fullfilling, I would gladly eat it again and again!
Next we went leggings shopping, every Spring its the same thing for me, closet decluttering and new season leggings shopping. We stopped by Cotswold Outdoors where I got some blue-autiful leggins that I loved so much we organised a super giveaway with Union Square where you can win my outfit! For more information head over their Facebook page (and don’t forget to give them a like 😉 ) They were soft, stretchy and very eye-catching so if you are into cycling too then this outfit is definitely for you!
Since I’ve been cycling so much I am curious as to how many calories I burn and generally speaking what are the benefits to my health, so when I saw this Fossil Q watch for half its initial price I knew I had to get it, and it’s been such a treat since then! It tells me everything I need to know about my fitness acitivity, sleeping pattern, sleeping circles and it even has an alarm that buzzes my wrist, a weird sensation at first but quite effective to get me out of bed!
We finished our girly day at Union Square with the ultimate treat-a deep tissue massage that made my sore leg muscles relax and release all the tension that has been accumulating all this time.
I am a regular at Pure Spa Aberdeen and there’s nothing I love the most that their services. Every time I leave I look myself at the mirror (it might be just me thinking this but) and I look and feel 10 years younger! My whole body feels lightweight, my skin feels refreshed and my soul is happy. Often we underestimate the value of a Spa Day and we tend to spend our money on materialistic gifts but I wouldn’t exchange a massage for the best pair of shoes in the world! After my massage we relaxed in the relaxation area reading magazines, drinking cups of tea and enjoying the peace. For a second I closed my eyes and let the music take me away to magic places…
We were sad to leave Union Square and get back into the fuss and buzz of the city but I know we will be back soon, as a matter of fact I am dinning there tonight before catching up with the Caledonian Sleeper to London.
