‘It’s going to be cold today’, mum said as I was getting dressed this morning. ‘Make sure to wear a long sleeve shirt and please don’t wear this blue skirt again’ she shouted as I was getting out of the door but it was already too late.
I travelled to Greece with a backpack, carrying the absolutely necessary with me (see loads of skirts, shirts and my toothbrush – all rolled up in my bag).
With only 13 outfits to wear, and that if I mix and match my skirts and shirts, I had no other option left than to look for more into my sister’s closet, grateful that we are of similar size!
Blue skirt and linen shirt it is then, I told myself this morning thinking it will be cold as per mum’s instructions.
But just as I was walking down the stone steps at my parents garden, I felt the first, warm, sea breeze of the day hitting my face, thinking perhaps mum was wrong… And she was!
As the sun was caressing my skin, making more freckles that I knew I had appear, I felt the most euphoric I’ve felt in a while!
Armed with sunglasses and my new straw hat, I sat down the beach, looking at the sea, counting my blessings and thinking that this is life now.
Life as I know it.
Life as it used to be before I moved to Scotland.
Life that I intend to enjoy to the fullest for as long as I am here!
Now if you’ll excuse me I have a date with the sea.
