Remember when I was living in London back in 2012? Well I haven’t visited the British capital since then and oh my, have I missed this place! After Paris, I jumped on Eurostar and spent New Year’s Eve in London before heading back to Aberdeen. I feel that everytime I am back in London I need to properly explore the city like a tourist and what a better excuse to do it than during the festive season. I went around all the places I used to hang out, my favourite cafes, the places I used to spent my evenings and of course the big boy, Big Ben.
London these days is a madness, in some places even too crowded to walk down the streets, so having this in mind I booked a room in the Travelodge hotel at the heart of the city in Covent Garden. Traveloge might not be the fanciest hotel but at the end of the day all you need is a good bed and a delicious breakfast and they sure know how to do this. My room view was spectacular and my bed the comfiest ever, perfect after a day of shopping and endless walking, so I cannot recommend enough the Covent Garden branch. Just a breath away the market I have to admit I did my shopping and returned back to the hotel twice in a day to leave my shopping bags in the room instead of carrying them around. Quite handy, right?
When in London during wintertime any look containing a turtleneck is acceptable so I obtained for a grey, cosy cardigan and a silver necklace. I spent my days eating, sightseeing and meeting old friends while trying not to get too attached to this city.
Until next time London!
At this point I would like to thank Travelodge for having me as their guest, I loved the location and my bed so I will certainly be back!
