Mercer hotel barcelona

Mercer Hotel Barcelona is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever stayed! Sometime ago and while I was in the middle of an experiment crisis in the lab, I received an email from the lovely staff of the hotel kindly inviting me to pay them a visit and blog about my experience. It’s not something that happens everyday, so I jumped in the opportunity and booked tickets for me and Stoyka without further ado!

We arrived at the hotel late at night after taking a direct flight from Edinburgh airport and checked in with much anticipation as to what we would see! In the entrance we were welcomed by the very friendly staff and were quickly offered a much appreciated  glass of cold water-best treat ever on a hot, sticky, summer night.

The hotel is located in the centre of the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona and is basically a unique historical building that has been restored with much attention to the detail. The interior design is minimalistic and is composed by natural elements such as wood and rocks.

A superior room was offered to us with view to the vertical garden! The bed was so comfy I could not resist but snap a typical blogger’s picture.

After tasting every single sweet, it was time for a hot shower to relax before having a look around the hotel.

We laid out our stuff and got on the task of beautifying ourselves.

Half an hour later and we were on our toes and with our cameras on action.

The bar on the ground floor had a large selection of alcohol, as a part of the services.

Quite excited and pleased with our tour around the place, we headed to the roof garden to have a look at the spectacular view of the city!

Here the decoration was au natural and it made us feel extremely relaxed and calm-exactly what we needed after a long day of travelling.

A staff member with a huge smile on his face brought us some local Catalonian champagne and we were left to enjoy ourselves under the starry sky….

…until the early morning hours. It is then that Stoyka and I both realised there is nothing better in life than spending your night with a close friend while counting stars and drinking champagne.
More about Barcelona and our Mercer Hotel experience tomorrow..
