It’s no secret that I LOVE a good afternoon tea experience and afternoon tea at Almondine in Aberdeen is one I wanted to have for a long time! I love the warm scones, the cream, the cakes, the endless cups of Earl Grey tea, all consumed slowly in between long discussions about everything and anything. My friend Chloe gifted me an afternoon tea at Almondine in Aberdeen for my birthday (she’s the best, I know!), and since Almondine is one of my favourite places to linger, I thought I could review it and also do a quick vlog of the day (See below).
Review: Almondine afternoon tea, Aberdeen
Almondine is a family business-as a matter of fact it is run by two sisters, the one providing customer services on the front of the shop and the other one being the sous chef in the kitchen. It is located on Thistle Street, one of the most beautiful streets of Aberdeen and it instantly transfers you to Paris once you step inside! Afternoon tea at Almondine is a serious business and something very difficult to have during weekends as they are fully booked usually up to 3 months in advance! Review Almondine Aberdeen afternoon
We ordered our drinks-a pot of Earl Grey tea and a cappuccino, that came with chocolate flakes on top that melted and made the coffee taste even better! Everything was served in white and light blue China tea set and the cutlery and pots were silver. Needless to say, it felt like we were in the 19th century! Review Almondine Aberdeen afternoon
The afternoon tea cake stand was filled with finger sized sandwiches, plum and cinnamon flavoured cakes and fresh scones. The miniature patisseries were delicious, glossy and so fresh I couldn’t move them off the tray without having them broken!
We started with sips of tea and bites of scone with clotted cream & strawberry jam, followed by the raspberry macaroons that were MOUTH-WATERING!!!! Review Almondine Aberdeen afternoon
Slowly, we progressed to the second tier of the stand and tasted the warm plums and Greek yogurt mini pot, topped with cinnamon flavoured almonds. It was the most tasty dessert I had in a long time. The cinnamon flavour with the sweetness of the plus was an explosion in my mouth and momentarily it made me feel like it was Christmas…
An hour later and we felt like another round of hot drinks was needed so we ordered some hot chocolate and cappuccino. Almondine does the best hot chocolate in Aberdeen! It comes in a silver, old fashion pot and it is made out of real pieces of chocolate melted in hot milk.
Everything was Brilliant and I am definitely looking forward to returning back soon! Review Almondine Aberdeen afternoon tea
