Hello from rainy Aberdeen!
We travelled up North yesterday and we are spending the days up until Christmas here before heading down to Edinburgh again. Life in between the two cities is fascinating as you get to taste the brilliance of Edinburgh while enjoying the familiar, homely feeling of Aberdeen. But tiring too since we have become packing and unpacking experts.
As I am writing this I am sitting in my sofa with a cup of Earl grey tea with a dash of soya milk and the rain drops on the window compete with Cruz’s nose prints on the glass, cute little thing he ‘sniffs’ any person he sees walk past the window, leaving his nose mark!
Anyway, here are a few things that made me happy this past week::
❤ Not one, but two of my colleagues successfully passing their Ph.D viva today! It is such a relief
to finally accomplish such an achievement and become a Dr. after four years of hard work, stress, deadlines and studying. We celebrated at the tea room with four cakes, fifty Krispy Kreme donuts and all the German sweets Marianne’s mum could fit in her luggage. Congratulations ladies!
❤ Walking Cruz early Saturday morning to Arthur’s Seat. We are lucky to have a flat in an area next to the hills, so what better place to walk the puppy? Fresh air, stunning views and puppy cuteness, I am sold every single time (and counting my blessings for the flat).
❤ Anthropologie in Edinburgh! Saturday late afternoon Steven and I walked through one of my favourite streets in Edinburgh, George Street, where all my favourite shops are located, Anthropologie, Joules The White Company to name a few. Every time we walk past, Steven knows it will be more than just a walk. And so it was this time, as we spent more than thirty minutes in total, and you know what Anthropologie started growing into him when he stumbled upon their book section!
❤ Tasting the menu at The Bon Vivant in Thistle Street whistl Christmas shopping on Sunday. Steven has created this Christmas tradition that every time we go for our annual shopping in Edinburgh he will take me to a fancy restaurant, and so The Bon Vivant it was this time. The food was delicious so I might write a mini review tomorrow, in case anyone is interested.
❤ Buying, wrapping and posting gifts to my family back home. Mr. Postman said it will take 3-5 working days to deliver so I am counting the days down and I have already told my sister to let me know what she thinks of her gift!!!
❤ Wrapping Steven’s family and Gwen’s gifts today. I used the same wrapping paper for all of them and they all rest around the fireplace at the moment.
❤ Poinsettias, holly branches in glass jars and pine cones dotted around the living room. Mince pies in the kitchen and spiced orange Yankee candles in the bedroom.
❤ Wearing this tartan, red, mini skirt (that I bought when I was fourteen years old) during my work Christmas dinner, and listening to my colleagues surprise when I told them for how many years it’s been in my closet. By far my favourite skirt!
So these are a few of the things that made me happy, now tell me, what made you happy recently?
