Happy Friday friends and welcome to another instalment of The Friday Edit blog Series where I document what happened and caught my attention this past week. After my trip to London, I embarked this week on a highly productive mode cleaning the house, doing the laundry (6 times in total if you care to know) and I even managed to finalise the details of two big projects that I am super excited to work on here at Natbee’s the next couple of weeks.
Here are some things that made this week a good one:
ONE// ‘The life in Scotland’ YouTube project that I started at the beginning of this year received some very positive feedback from people who thanked me for bringing ‘a slice of Scotland in their lives‘ and it got me into tears from joy! YouTube is quite new to me – sure I have uploaded a dozen of videos but I still do everything as an amateur not paying attention to the business of it because it’s bloody hard work and I do not wish to obsess myself over it! As I mentioned at the very first vlog of the Series, these are not for commercial purposes but a way for me to document the little things each month and remember them by the end of this year while going back to watch each of these vlogs. I focus less on the editing and more on the documenting aspect of it to have a wider picture of each month’s little moments. It is still a work in progress and I still find it challenging, fascinating and frustrating at times (wondering how did I come up with this idea!), but I am super pleased with the vlogs and your reactions so here’s to the next one!
In case you would like to watch the first two vlogs, here is… Life in Scotland – The January Edition:
….and Life in Scotland – The February Edition:
TWO// Speaking of YouTube, how professional and down to Earth is Julia and her husband Thomas from Gal Meets Glam on this episode of Fohr? It never ceases to amaze me how humble they both are despite their admirable business success. Definitely one of the most aspiring business couples out there.
THREE// An exciting delivery I got this morning from BISOU | Les Madeleines, two French ladies who created a homemade baking company based in London. I never win giveaways and I must admit I hardly ever enter any these days, so I was so excited to win a box of their ‘Paris’ collection that included 9 rose water flavoured Madeleines. So tasty words are not enough to describe them!
FOUR// An evening of networking, drinks and presentations with Visit Aberdeenshire yesterday at the Orchid bar. If you are a regular reader of Natbee’s then I am certain you know that I am all about Aberdeen and life in Scotland, but up until now I never had the chance to meet and chat to the team that does the same job for the local tourism board. After all these years of working with other tourism boards, it was refreshing to be acknowledged as a travel blogger from the local tourism board; it was lovely and thoughtful of them to get to know the bloggers that love and support this silver city and I am looking forward to what the future holds for all of us!
FIVE// I was looking to upgrade my camera and then stumbled upon a few YouTube reviews featuring the new Olympus E-M10 Mark II and my entire world was turned upside down! Not only it has some superb features that any photographer would love to play with but it is also one of the most sophisticated cameras I’ve seen; the viewfinder reaches 2.36M dots and the leather frame is unreal! I can only imagine how good landscapes would look through this lens…
And with all these exciting and wonderful things I am going to leave you and go pack my stuff as we are heading to Aviemore tonight. I hope you all have a lovely weekend (fingers crossed it is not going to rain). See you next week!
