Where: Corfu, Greece
When: September 2014
Gerald Durrell once said Corfu is the garden of the Gods and I can now see the reason. Every corner has something to show you; there are historical monuments to admire, gardens from another era to walk and happy people to offer you a smile.
Thursday night dad and mum decided to visit the castle and I joined along, as I had never been before. On our way we walked through the gardens and I was literally amazed by the beautiful flowers and palm trees.
The canal was majestic; these pictures do nothing compared to how beautiful it looks in reality.
We walked through the gate and all the pink coloured walls and white framed doors and windows made me feel like Cinderella or another fairy tale princess. Wearing a maxi skirt and a top also encouraged me to live the illusion for a second.
On the top of the hill there was a building similar to Parthenon and the view to the harbour was more than my expectations. During the sunset, sky and sea shared the same light blue colour and the boats were resting on the sea surface, making the whole landscape very picturesque. I took a moment to observe and absorb all this peacefulness.
Much to my surprise and opposed to my situation, mum and dad were climbing up and down the hill like teenagers in order to get the best view of the city. It was then that I realised they have recently taken up a new hobby, selfies. I think my parents are more advanced than I thought, go figure!
More adventures tomorrow, so stay tuned…
