On the 6th day of the Mykonian adventures, we visited Delos island. A small island next to Mykonos that is incapable of being inhabited as it is a museum-island. By definition Delos means brought to light and Delos was characterised in ancient Greece as the island of sun. The mythology also says that in Delos was located the gate to another world, but to my dissapointment I couldn’t find it! Nowadays, there are countless ancient temple remains, motifs, mosaics and sculptures spread all over the place. Enough with the history lessons though, back to our trip. I wore a loose fit multicoloured dress and my Grecian style sandals. It was really hot so I had my hair quickly done in an up-do messy hairstyle and I was wearing my sunglasses all the time. We waked a lot, read all the monument descriptions and made it to the top of the mountain…and at the end of our limited time we lost the return footpath and would almost miss the boat back to Mykonos….
You can’t imagine how relieved I was when we finally reached the boat and sat on the deck.
Have you ever been to Delos?
Love,
Anastasia
