Weekend Pottering around Aberdeen

There is something about Saturdays that makes my heart so happy! Ever since I was a kid Saturdays have been special to our family. My sister and I would wake up early to watch the morning cartoons on the TV before Mum would give me money to go to the local bakery and buy us bougatsa – the most delicious breakfast ever if you ask me!

Up until today, Saturdays are my happiest and most productive days. It’s the time of the week that I will clean the house, tidy up, plan for the upcoming week and draft all my blog posts. It is also the time that we will have brunch with friends and potentially a cheeky Deliveroo takeaway (beanie wrap for me, please!).

This Saturday was no different.

We woke up kind of early and had a light breakfast of fresh orange juice and granola before heading out to walk Cruzy. The streets of Aberdeen at around 8 am on a Saturday morning are empty and peaceful so different compared to the hustle and bustle of the previous night!

After a couple of hours of walking around the city, stretching our legs and stopping every now and then for Cruzy to sniff and do his thing, we headed to Cafe Harmony for lunch. We’d been here a couple of months ago whilst at a rushed lunch break, the food was delicious and so we decided to come by one-day soon. And I am so glad we did!

I ordered the carbonara (without pancetta) and it was super delicious, and my boyfriend ordered the monkfish. The restaurant is Instagram-heaven! Beautiful lightbulbs hanging from the ceiling, distressed wood tables, vintage vases, old books, a beautiful phonogram- you name it, they have it!

Now looking at these images all I think about is when I’m going to be back!

Sunday was much more calmer, we woke up late and decided to have breakfast at The Long Dog, so off we went.

Unfortunately, it was jam packed and after searching for a table at the nearby cafes for more than half an hour, we opted for the good old Starbucks on the corner.

I’m going to save you from posting images of frothy cappuccinos once again and do Sunday on a fast forward mode!

Soon after, we went for a walk down the park where, despite the extreme wind the boys managed to play and run up and down the hills. By boys I, of course, refer to the Mr and Monsieur Cruzy!

And that’s how our weekend went! I was hoping to post this on Tuesday morning but what with work and taking care of Cruz as soon as I get back home, I completely forgot to post it. I hope you forgive me, will you?

It’s Thursday now, and with another weekend over the corner I’m thinking perhaps I should bring the Weekend Series back and post about our weekend adventures during the week?

What do you think?
